How to Use Google Classroom

How to Login to Google Classroom:

You can login to Google Classroom from several devices, including a Chromebook, home computer, iPad or iPhone.

To login on a Chromebook:

Students should already know how to login to their chromebook, but here are instructions just in case you need it.

1)Login to the Chromebook using the following credentials:
  • Username: StudentAccessLogin@my.jordandistrict.org
  • Password: Student Number (same number used for Lexia)
*Student email and student number can be found on the student's Skyward Account.
(The email is usually the first five letters of students last name and first three letters of first name followed by three zeros.  For example, if the student were Calvin Johnson, the email would be johnscal000@my.jordandistrict.org. However, it may end with different numbers than 000 if there are other students in the district that would have the same letters.)

2) Once signed in, a web browser will automatically open.  (Note: If the browser accidentally gets closed you can reopen it by selecting the Chrome icon from the dock at the bottom of the screen.)
3) There will be a box with the student's class name (either Red Class or Blue Class).
4) The Google Classroom will be on the home screen.  Click on the classroom to open.  (The first time you will need to click join.)

To login from a home computer:

1) Go to Google Classroom (classroom.google.com).
2) Follow the same steps as above to login.
3) Select I'm a Student.
4) Select your google classroom. (Click join the first time.)

To login from an iPad or iPhone:

1) Download the Google Classroom App.
2) Follow the same steps to login to a computer.
3) You may also need to download the following free apps to use in conjunction with Google Classroom:

  •  Nearpod
  • Google Docs
  • Google Slides

How to Use Google Classroom:

  • Once you have logged, in you will see the classes you have been invited to join.  Select the your class (Blue Class or Red Class).  Click Join if it is your first time.
  • It will open on the Stream page.  To the left you will see a list of upcoming assignment due dates.  All assignments can be found under Classwork.  In the center it will show things that are happening in our classroom, including messages from me to the class.
  • To see the weekly assignments, go to Classwork.  The assignments are organized by day.
  • To do an assignment, click on the assignment.  You will find directions for the assignment and links to the various online tools you will need to complete the assignment.
  • Most assignments can be completely done on line, but some may have something you need to download and print. Once you complete the assignment, you will need to either scan the finished assignment or take a photo and upload it to your online assignment.
  • If there is a drawing assignment, you may choose to download the assignment and do it by hand.  I will attach a PDF of the document that you can print and complete on paper.  If you choose to do this, you will then need to scan the finished assignment or take a photo and upload it to the assignment. You will find instructions on how to do this in the Help Desk under Classwork.
