Behavior Disclosure

Here are our classroom rules:

1. We will listen and follow directions.

2. We will be nice to others.

3. We will keep our hands, feet, and objects to ourselves.

4. We will raise our hand to talk.

5. We will stay on task.

In our classroom, we will work hard to maintain a positive environment, encouraging leadership from our students. We will employ a variety of positive reinforcements to help students to be leaders in the classroom and to synergize and help each other learn. These reinforcements will change throughout the year to keep them fresh and rewarding.  Possible reinforcements include, but are not excluded to:

·    Dojo Points to be used towards a rewarding activity.

·   Reward Activity Tickets for activities such as sit in teacher’ chair, lunch with teacher, choose from treasure chest, wear a hat in the classroom, etc.

·   Table Team Points toward earning a group reward activity.

·   Class Points toward earning a whole class activity.

·   Compliments from the teacher.

·   Mystery Motivators

·   Extra Priveleges

We will also be using Precision Commands in our classroom.  Students are expected to follow directions the first time, but they will be given three chances to follow through.  If they do not follow through, they will lose part of their special privilege time.  Each reminder will follow specific phrasing.

• 1^st Reminder:  

“(Name) (Direction) PLEASE.”

Example:  “Tommy, finish your worksheet, PLEASE.

• 2^nd Reminder:  

“(Name) YOU NEED TO (Direction).

Example:  “Tommy YOU NEED TO finish your worksheet.”

• 3^rd Reminder:  

“(Name) that’s not (name rule broken).  

That’s ___  minutes of (privilege).”

Example:  “Tommy, that’s not staying on task.  That's 32 seconds of your free time.”

•    Student then owes set amount of time during special privilege times such as Free Choice or Recess

 1^st Offense= 36 sec

2^nd Offense=1 min 7 sec

3^rd Offense=1 min 38 sec

4^th Offense = 1 min 52 sec

5^th Offense= 2 min 11 sec

•     Students may also lose privilege time if they break other classroom or school rules.

• Severe Clause:  Students involved in fighting or bullying will automatically be sent to meet with the principal.

Parents will also be contacted by phone or email if student has a daily pattern of misbehavior without improvement and for more serious behavior issues.  Further behavior contracts may then be set to help student to improve problem behaviors. Class Dojo may be used to track behavior plans.

Thank you for supporting proper behavior at school.  Good behavior benefits all as it helps provide a positive learning environment for everyone.  Behavior management occurs when students know that parents and teachers are working together to promote learning.
